Product Description
The third and final book in Walter Macken's loose Irish Trilogy - The Scorching Wind, published in this edition by Macmillan UK, 1964.
The three books are linked by the theme of Irish history, but it is not necessary to have read any of them to be able to start on one book - Book One ( Seek the Fair Land) was set in Cromwellian Ireland, and book 2 ( The Silent People ) in pre-Famine Ireland.
Condition - Book - Light to moderate age tanning to the page block, cover clean and in good condition, little to no creasing, solid in red cloth. Slight spine lean.
Condition - Dustjacket - now in a removable clear plastic Herma jacket protector. Original coiver art differs significantly from the later ( and commoner) paperback Pan editions. Creasing to corners, general edgewear and dustdarkening.
First published 1964, the author died young, in 1967.
The title comes from the Psalms - the scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup...
